Steps

01

Choose one clear adult photo

Use a front-facing or slightly turned portrait of a consenting adult, with the face and shoulders visible and little or no existing makeup. A JPEG, PNG, or WebP, up to 10 MB file is accepted. Do not upload children, public figures or a photo you do not have permission to use.

02

Pick a fixed Catrina look

Choose Classic Catrina, Floral Crown, Catrín, Glam Catrina, Half-Face Catrina or Marigold Field / Candlelit Ofrenda. Each look supplies its own sugar-skull makeup, flowers, clothing and lighting, so there is no prompt box on the main path.

03

Generate the photo

Confirm permission and sign in when you are ready. Photo is selected by default and uses 2 credits. The fixed prompt asks the model to preserve your recognizable features while adding the Catrina makeup and scene. Rejected requests do not use credits.

04

Review the portrait or try the video

Check the face, makeup edges, flowers and background before downloading. Keep the AI-generated label when you share it. If you want movement, switch to Video for a separate five-second vertical scene at 10 credits.

What photo works best

A sharp, evenly lit portrait gives the model the most reliable starting point. Keep the face unobstructed, leave a little room around the head for a flower crown or top hat, and avoid sunglasses, heavy shadow or strong existing filters.

A plain background and simple clothing help the fixed costume and altar read clearly. A group photo, a screenshot of another person or a photo of a child is not appropriate for this page.

The six Catrina looks

Classic Catrina is the most traditional: white sugar-skull makeup, black linework, burgundy roses, lace and candlelight. Floral Crown adds a marigold and rose crown. Catrín uses calavera makeup with a marigold top hat and bow tie. Glam Catrina adds a sheer veil and restrained gold accents. Half-Face Catrina keeps one side natural and paints the other. Marigold Field / Candlelit Ofrenda places you beside cempasúchil and a simple altar.

Each look is a separate fixed scene. You can generate more than one from the same photo, and each generation uses its own credits. There is no need to describe the makeup or the setting yourself.

A respectful Day of the Dead portrait

Día de los Muertos is a time to honor and remember family, with marigolds, candles, food, music and ofrendas. The looks here use Catrina and sugar-skull symbolism in a warm, celebratory setting. They do not ask for graphic injury, sudden scares or a frightening skull.

This is an AI interpretation, not a real ceremony or a cultural authority. Keep the mood respectful when you share it, and do not present the result as a real photograph of a real event.

Photo first, video optional

The default output is a still portrait at 2 credits. Video is a separate five-second 9:16 scene at 10 credits and does not animate the exact photo you already made. Choose the format you need before generating, and review the credit price on the button.

Packs are one-time purchases. Packs are a one-time payment, not a subscription. Credits never expire. There is no free generation, and new accounts receive no free credits. Applicable taxes appear at checkout.

What AI can change

Likeness is not guaranteed. The model may change the shape of the makeup, the number of flowers, the hairline, the hands or the background. A clean source photo usually gives a closer result, but always compare the finished portrait with your original.

Outputs include a visible AI-generated label. Keep that label when you publish the portrait, and follow the Content Policy for consent and sharing.

Questions

How do I turn a selfie into Day of the Dead or Catrina makeup with AI?

To make a Day of the Dead AI portrait from one photo on Halloween AI at halloweenaigenerator.com, upload a clear adult portrait, choose a Catrina look, and generate. Photo is the default and no prompt is needed. A Day of the Dead AI portrait photo uses 2 credits. A five-second Catrina video uses 10 credits. There is no free generation, and new accounts receive no free credits. Applicable taxes appear at checkout. The steps and photo checklist are below.

Do I need to write a prompt?

No. Choose one of the six fixed looks and add a photo. The makeup, flowers, clothing and lighting are part of the template, so there is no open prompt on the main path.

How much does a Day of the Dead AI portrait cost?

A Day of the Dead AI portrait photo uses 2 credits. A five-second Catrina video uses 10 credits. One-time packs are $5.99 for 20 credits (Starter), $9.99 for 40 credits (Popular), and $19.99 for 100 credits (Party). Packs are a one-time payment, not a subscription. Credits never expire. There is no free generation, and new accounts receive no free credits. Applicable taxes appear at checkout.

Can AI do La Catrina and El Catrín from one photo?

One generation makes one look. Choose Classic Catrina or Catrín, generate the portrait, then use the same photo again for the other look. A Catrina photo uses 2 credits and a five-second video uses 10 credits.

Is there an AI Día de los Muertos portrait generator that keeps my face?

The fixed prompt asks the model to preserve your recognizable facial features and natural proportions while adding Catrina makeup. AI likeness can still vary, especially with low light, sunglasses or a low-resolution photo. Review the result before sharing.

Can I make a marigold or ofrenda portrait from a photo?

Yes. Choose Marigold Field / Candlelit Ofrenda. The scene adds cempasúchil, papel picado, candles and a simple altar behind your portrait. The framed photographs in the altar are generated generically, not copied from a real family photo.

Day of the Dead AI filter vs. Snapchat or Instagram AR lens: what is the difference?

An AR lens overlays makeup on a live camera inside one app. This tool generates a new portrait (or a separate short video) from one still photo in the browser, with the flowers, clothing and ofrenda built into the image. It is not a live lens and it does not copy another app's filter.

Is the portrait labeled as AI?

Yes. Outputs include a visible AI-generated label. Keep it when you share the image, and do not present the portrait as a real photograph or a real ceremony.
